SHANJIXIANG,wasborninBeijingin1954.HereceivedhisdoctoratedegreeinUrbanPlanningandDesignfromtheSchoolofArchitecture,TsinghuaUniversity,andstudiedinJapanfrom1980to1984.AfterhisreturntoChina,Dr.ShanheldseveralpostssuchasdeputydirectorofBeijingMunicipalAdministrationofCityPlanning,directorofBeijingMunicipalAdministrationofCulturalHeritage,directorofBeijingMunicipalCommissionofUrbanPlanning,anddirectoroftheStateAdministrationofCulturalHeritage.SinceJanuaryof2002,Dr.ShanhastakenuppositionsofdirectorofthePalaceMuseum,researcherofthePalaceMuseum,directorofChinaCulturalRelicsAcademy,andvicechairmanofChinaBuildingDecorationAssociation.
